HP DeskJet 2720 Wireless All-in-One Colour Printer with 2 months Instant Ink trial

45,000.00

The HP Deskjet 2720 is an entry level inkjet printer.  The recommended monthly page volume is 50-100 sheets but can print up to 1000 pages.  I have not tested this amount!

It is reasonably compact with clean white plastic case making it lightweight but surprisingly sturdy. It will take approximately 60 sheets of paper which is stored vertically at the back of the machine and the output tray conveniently clips closed when not being used.

Description

HP 2720 Deskjet Printer

The HP Deskjet 2720 is an entry level inkjet printer.  The recommended monthly page volume is 50-100 sheets but can print up to 1000 pages.  I have not tested this amount!

It is reasonably compact with clean white plastic case making it lightweight but surprisingly sturdy. It will take approximately 60 sheets of paper which is stored vertically at the back of the machine and the output tray conveniently clips closed when not being used.  It has manual duplex copying which is a useful feature and as well as printing documents will scan and copy.  It does not claim to be photo quality but I was surprised by the detail of the photos I have printed and find them very acceptable.

It connects with dual band wi-fi (2.4 GHz or 5.0 GHz) or blutooth 4.2.  It connects via the HP smart app and also Apple Airprint.  I have an Android phone so connected via the HP Smart app. Once downloaded, follow the straightforward instructions.  There is also a USB port for wired connection.

My machine offered a free trial of HP Instant ink, which I have taken up.  The first cartridges arrived well within the date specified but not next day.  However, once signed up the machine automatically sends out for the next cartridge well before the existing has been exhausted.  You pay a monthly subscription for a set amount of copies and are charged extra per 10 sheets if you exceed this.  Useful if you use your printer on a regular basis and do not vary too much on your print run.  If there are any unused a limited but generous amount are transferred over to the next month.

The machine is quite noisy when printing and the output tray design could be improved as it needs a good tug to set it in place.

I am happy with the document quality I have printed out so far.  Small, script type fonts always struggle a bit on any inkjet printer I use and this is no different.  I have not tried printing on heavyweight quality paper, only supermarket 75g weight.

I have had to contact HP support as I had a problem printing a particular document.  I tried the virtual assistant and question & answer page but in the end I generated a case number and phoned them.  I found the customer assistant very patient, professional, knowledgeable and friendly and wished I had used the phone option sooner.  HP do try to get you to solve the problem yourself rather than direct you easily to phone support and I spent too much time trying things that did not work.  The support agent logged into my computer but did not take control.  Instead they showed me how to solve the problem and the solution was reinforced by doing it myself under supervision.

To summarise, this is a great printer for the home or occasional printing in a small office.  It is easy to use, once set up and can be accessed by a computer, phone or tablet with the option to remote print via email. If you want to print booklets, lots of photos or long job runs then I would suggest you upgrade to another HP machine because the customer support I received was excellent and this is worth its weight in gold.
